Annotation

Originally based in Guangzhou, Le Péle-méle, modelled on new literary magazines, paid a lot of attention to illustrations and frontpage design. Published irregularly, its content ranged across photography, comic strips, poetry, fiction, scripts, miscellaneous writing and jokes. Many of its contributions and advertisements were from Guangzhou, but it also had pieces about Macau. While the majority of articles were written in vernacular Chinese, it also featured prose and poems written in classical Chinese.
