Widely regarded as ‘Hong Kong’s first new literary magazine’ and ‘the pioneer in the field of new literature in Hong Kong’, Illustrated Family Magazine was published twice a month. It had a colour frontpage and back-cover, and black-and-white inner pages, and an editorial style similar to Huan Zhou, an important modern Chinese literary journal founded by Ling-feng Yeh and others. Its contents included literature, paintings, fashion, interior design, fiction, poetry, drama scripts, interviews and sports. It has no connection with a magazine with the same name published in 1963.
